Who’s behind this
I am a subtitler and translator based in London and currently working as a multilingual subtitler for Sky. I also work as a technical translator and face-to-face interpreter.
My academic career is shared between Italy and France. My background studies are focused on interpreting and translation, featuring a double degree between IULM University and the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, and the Master’s Degree in audiovisual and technical translation, shared between the Civica Scuola Interpreti e Traduttori “Altiero Spinelli” and the ITI-Ri, Institut de Traducteurs, d’Interprètes et de Relations Internationales in Strasbourg.
During the two-year Master’s, I was provided with a broad overview of the audiovisual careers that I might pursue in the future, ranging from videogame localisation to audio description, scriptwriting, and more!
Since finishing my studies, I have dived in to the world of media communication and broadcasting.
In the summer of 2017, I completed an internship on closed captioning and live subtitling for television in Paris, and I was determined to build my career in that field. After a short time, I was hired as a full-time live subtitler at Deluxe Media in London.
At the end of 2018, I registered as a freelance live subtitler and translator, and I was DBS checked for freelance interpreting too. Interpreting is an old passion of mine that I started exploring during my BA, but that, because of the time devoted to my Master’s degree, I hadn’t practised since early 2017.
In early 2021, I was hired as a full-time multilingual subtitler at Sky, working on English closed captioning and Italian audiovisual translation for the broadcaster.
Despite embarking on this significant challenge, my freelance career hasn’t stopped!
